Preserve the Light of the Dharma.
A Sacred Opportunity to Protect a Living Tradition and Transform Young Lives
In the remote mountains of southern Bhutan, in the small and underserved community of Panbang, a precious spiritual home is nurturing the next generation of Buddhist practitioners. At Dharma Ati Ling, 40 young monks and nuns are dedicating their lives to the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings. Each day, they engage in prayer, meditation, Buddhist philosophy, and spiritual discipline while receiving the education and care needed to grow into compassionate and wise members of society.
Dharma Ati Ling was established by Khenpo Wangchuk Jamtsho through the aspiration and request of Gangteng Tulku Rinpoche, with the vision of preserving the precious Buddhist teachings and providing young practitioners with an authentic environment for learning, practice, and service. These young monks and nuns are not only receiving an education—they are becoming the future holders of a living tradition of wisdom and compassion.
Why Panbang, Southern Bhutan?
Bhutan is internationally known as a country that values Gross National Happiness, spiritual heritage, and harmony with nature. However, many rural communities in southern Bhutan continue to face economic hardship and limited access to educational opportunities. Panbang is one of these remote areas. Located far from Bhutan’s main urban centers, many families in the region struggle with financial limitations and fewer opportunities for their children. For young people with a calling toward monastic life, Dharma Ati Ling provides something truly precious: a safe home, an education, spiritual guidance, and the opportunity to develop their potential. Without the monastery’s support and the generosity of compassionate donors, many of these young practitioners would not have access to the resources needed to continue their studies and training.
